Wandayi: ODM return won’t rescue Orengo in Siaya race

By Kennedy Otieno

Energy Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi has warned Siaya Governor James Orengo that returning to ODM will not rescue his political career in 2027.

Wandayi on Sunday declared that Siaya voters have already decided to send Orengo home in next year’s gubernatorial contest.

The CS vowed that Orengo’s political fate has been sealed regardless of the party ticket he uses to defend his seat, dismissing the Governor’s attempts to rebuild his political fortunes through ODM.

“In Siaya we have decided to send Orengo home in the morning whether he comes back to ODM or not, so long as he is on the ballot he will be voted out,” Wandayi said.

The CS said the governor should prepare for defeat because the people of Siaya have made up their minds and would not be swayed by party affiliations or political manoeuvres.

He spoke at Mori Primary School in North Kanyamkago Ward, Uriri Constituency in Migori County during a fundraiser for boda boda riders.

The governor has found himself at the centre of the unfolding political contest in Siaya, with questions emerging over whether he will seek re-election under ODM or pursue an alternative political vehicle.

But Wandayi however maintains that the party label would make little difference at the ballot.
