Detectives in Isinya, Kajiado County, have arrested a man suspected of murdering his 34-year-old wife, Farida Peter Sangka, and burying her body in a shallow grave at their farm in Entarakuet in an apparent attempt to conceal the crime.
The incident came to light after Ndayishimiye Deo, a Burundian national employed as a farmhand by the suspect, identified as Shon David Rabassa Kioko, reported the alleged murder to authorities.
According to the report, Kioko allegedly killed his wife before instructing Deo to help bury her body in a shallow grave on the farm.
Acting on the information, detectives visited the scene and arrested both men as investigations into the incident commenced.
Police secured the scene before beginning the process of recovering the deceased’s remains. The body was subsequently exhumed in the presence of a pathologist, Ministry of Health officials and police officers to facilitate forensic examination.
The remains were later transferred to Nairobi Funeral Home, where they are being preserved pending a postmortem examination to establish the cause of death.
Kioko and Deo remain in custody as detectives continue investigations to establish the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death and determine the extent of each suspect’s alleged involvement.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) expressed its condolences to the deceased’s family and loved ones, pledging its commitment to pursuing justice.
The agency said it stood in solidarity with the family during the difficult period as investigations continued.
