Environment Principal Secretary Festus Ng’eno has survived a helicopter crash in Kericho County, an incident that left several occupants injured.
The helicopter came down at Kericho Golf Club on Monday afternoon, October 12, amid heavy rains in the area, with all six people on board reported to have survived the incident, according to initial reports.
Kericho County Police Commander Kivindu Kilonzo said no fatalities had been reported, although several occupants sustained injuries and were rushed to South Rift Hospital for emergency treatment.
Eyewitnesses said the aircraft, registration number 5Y-FSK, had barely gained altitude after takeoff when it lost height and crashed, leaving emergency responders scrambling to rescue those trapped in the wreckage.
The circumstances surrounding the crash remain unclear, with authorities expected to establish what caused the helicopter to go down.
The incident comes months after another helicopter crash claimed the life of Emurua Dikirr MP Johana Ng’eno and five other people in Mosop, Nandi County, on February 28, 2026.
Investigators in that case cited poor visibility caused by thick fog and drizzle in their preliminary findings.
