A senior police officer in Kakamega County is under investigation after he was allegedly found inside a house with a 16-year-old girl in an incident that has sparked a police probe in Lugari.

The officer, identified as Lumakanda OCS Wycliff Kwendo, is accused of allegedly defiling the minor after reportedly luring her parents out of their home on the pretext that a multi-agency security operation was imminent.

According to a police report filed at Lumakanda Police Station, the officer allegedly called the girl’s mother at about 11pm on Saturday and warned her that she and her family should not sleep at their home because of a planned raid.

Police said the officer then offered to ferry the woman and her husband to White House Bar in his private vehicle.

The couple later returned home, only to allegedly find their 16-year-old daughter inside with the officer, who was reportedly carrying his shoes and wearing unbuttoned shorts.

The report states that the woman allegedly spotted two condoms, one used and another unopened, on a table.

When she confronted the officer, he allegedly threatened her with a firearm and demanded the condoms before taking away the couple’s phones.

Police further reported that the officer allegedly left the woman with Sh20,000 and asked her not to disclose the incident.

The minor was later found behind the house and subsequently reported the matter at Lumakanda Police Station.

The scene was visited by officers from Chekalini, Lumakanda and the Lugari DCI. The girl was taken to Lumakanda Sub-County Hospital for treatment.

The case is under investigation by DCI Lugari, with police recording it as pending investigation.
