In a well-coordinated crackdown on drug peddlers spanning Juja, Kiambu County, and Orera, Homa Bay County, detectives have netted two suspects and seized 898 rolls of bhang and other illicit substances.
In Juja, detectives from Juja Police Station conducted an operation targeting narcotics traffickers in the area.
Their efforts bore fruit at Juja Matatu Stage, where they arrested a 24-year-old woman, Ann Wanjiku Njoki, who was found in possession of 800 rolls of bhang.
Police seized the haul and took the suspect into custody pending processing and arraignment.
Meanwhile, in Orera, Rachuonyo East Sub-County, detectives from the National Anti-Narcotics Investigations Bureau (NANIB), Homa Bay and Migori, raided the home of a 33-year-old man identified as Fredrick Dunga, alias Ofisa or Babu.
The operation followed a public outcry over drug trafficking in the vicinity of Orera Comprehensive School.
A search of the premises yielded 98 rolls of bhang, tucked away in a cup, alongside three litres of chang’aa. Officers escorted the suspect to Homa Bay Police Station for processing ahead of his arraignment.
As the crackdown continues, the DCI reiterates its commitment to pursuing those involved in the illicit drug trade and protecting communities, particularly children and young people, from the dangers associated with narcotic drugs and illicit brews.
