Detectives from the Nairobi Regional Headquarters have arrested Harrison Njeru Muthika over an alleged Sh 4.95 million investment fraud involving Forex and cryptocurrency trading.
The suspect was arrested following a complaint by a man who alleged that he was persuaded to invest in the ventures and transferred the money through multiple transactions between April 30 and July 2, 2025.
The case file was reviewed by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), leading to the issuance of a court warrant for the suspect’s arrest.
Muthika is being held pending arraignment at the Milimani Law Courts, where he is expected to face charges including cheating, operating an unapproved collective investment scheme, fraudulently inducing trading in securities, and dealing in proceeds of crime.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has urged the public to exercise due diligence before investing in Forex and cryptocurrency ventures, warning against committing funds based solely on promises of lucrative returns.
Investors are advised to verify the legitimacy and regulatory status of investment providers before entrusting them with their money.
The allegations against the suspect remain subject to determination by the court.
